My Platform
My platform is about tackling the real issues that matter to South Carolinians. I believe in a fairer system, a government that works efficiently, and leadership that looks forward—not backward. By focusing on practical solutions and embracing innovation, I want to make life better for families, communities, and the future of our state.
LIST OF ISSUES
Infrastructure
Here in Pickens County, we’ve seen bridges literally collapse. Through my Clemson research, I’ve worked extensively with SCDOT to improve efficiency through technology, and I know the potential is there. We need people on the Committee of Education and Public Works with experience with the SCDOT to drive accountability and transparency, embrace new technology, and make sure South Carolinians get the safe, reliable infrastructure they deserve.
Making Elections Work for the People
Our democracy works best when voters—not politicians—are in charge. With gerrymandering, politicians pick their voters instead of voters picking their politicians. That’s why I support independent redistricting commissions to draw fair maps that reflect our communities, not partisan interests. I also back ranked-choice voting, so every vote counts and winners earn true majority support, and reasonable term limits, so fresh leaders with new ideas can serve the people—not themselves. It’s time to put people before parties and restore trust in our elections.
DSS Nees Help Now
Our caseworkers are overloaded, and kids are in foster care way too long. We need leaders on the judicial committee to help appoint judges who put kids first and move cases forward with urgency. Children should not spend years waiting in limbo while the system drags on. Sometimes that means supporting families so reunification can happen more quickly, and other times it means moving faster toward adoption when that’s the best path.
As a foster dad for the past 10 years, I’ve seen firsthand the harm that delays can cause. We need to give caseworkers the support they deserve and appoint judges who make permanency a top priority. A public dashboard should track how long it takes to place children in safe, stable, and permanent homes. Let’s build a system that works faster, treats families more fairly, and truly puts the well-being of South Carolina’s children first.
Responsible Use of AI
Everyone talks about improving efficiency, and I’ve spent my career actually doing it. I want to bring responsible AI into government so employees can do their jobs better and faster, and introduce it into schools at the right age. Like the calculator, AI should come after students learn the fundamentals, then be used to give them every advantage to compete in a global market. But we must also teach responsible use—because AI is a good servant but a terrible master. If we fail to guide our kids, AI could cause the same unmitigated damage that social media has. AI is here. Inaction is not an option.
